I wanted to talk about Cheryleve's work for a while. Of course I'm biased about it, but her work has really come together in the past year or two, and her MFA exhibition is going to be outstanding.
I'm an artist and designer and co-owner of a printshop called La Cucaracha Press. We've been designing and printing custom work since 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri.
My work relates to labor, people and the issues surrounding this topic. I'm interested in back-breaking labor and the intricacies involved in the workforce that carries out tough jobs. I'm also interested in the labor and work involved in being an artist. Art is a special and necessary thing in the world, and artists are a special breed of human. Because they are special, they are treated differently and thus are relegated to the lower classes because society doesn't know how to quantify a value for artistic work. Anyway, it's always about work.
